Hello lovely MF diaryland
It feels like its been ages (and probably has) but thought I'd get a diary up and running again to chart our MF ness ....

We are in theory ,though not quite practice, MF on our little home ...the in practice part comes in around October but so too does the saving for a house we can live in for as long as we want ;)

In terms of money saving the last year or so has been pretty spendy so I'm airing to keep us accountable by having to write about it here!

In recent and current money saving news our efforts are as follows:
Savings- one FD 6% reg saver plus £15 free p/m from various Halifax accounts

Work - miniscule pay rises but rises nonetheless and small £60 from some extra work into the pot this week

Food shopping: really needs some work, lots of waste, takeaways and not as savvy cooking and shopping as the past so aiming to rectify this asap

Will have a catch up of diaries soon to see what you all have been up to
Xx

    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • Hey Achemilla and Cath :)
No forever home found yet still got a fair bit of saving to go for that ! Achemilla are you moving? ...
Not much money saving news this week other than avoiding shops and free dinners this week due to work training ;) every little helps I guess!
Proper catch up on diaries at the weekend ...we are halfway there x
  • Oooooo exciting news!!! As of tomorrow we are officially MF!!!! :) wooooohoooooo!! It's been a five year journey for us and a lot of learning . planning on a little celebration ( I'll even feed mrtyo! ;) ) then back to saving saving as our next goal will be MF on a house which will take a good 150k of saving!!

Plans afoot to manage this are:
Saving my payrise a whole £500 a year better off from July apparently!

Shopping smarter ... Food spends have been through the roof partly due to the business of life recently so back to meal planning soon!

EBay/ Amazon ... Have a box of stuff to possibly sell once I get around to it!

Hope all are well and am looking forward to the next part of our MF journey xx

    Ooh! Congratulations!
  • Hallo Radish :j:j

Well he might get a bigger cupboard - if he behaves ;)

I even took him out tonight to feed him dinner! :D

Official MF date looking like tomorrow as OP hasnt gone out today - so posh dinner postponed till the figure says £0

If MrTyo is very lucky I am planning a special dinner date out at the weekend :eek: *shhhhh.... dont let on *

    Achemilia
Thank you - its all very exciting! although doesnt stop the drudgery for both of us of having long old weeks at work doh!!

Still - hopefully by the time we do this "next time" it will feel very different- with more opportunities to do different and more interesting things (or things not bossed around by other people! :p)

may even go for a couple of :beer: at the weekend but need to start a MF health kick too so maybe just the one!

    Achievements for today:
NSD- took a packed lunch into work, same tomorrow (plus I even made one for MrTyo - nice arent I ? ;))
Sold some bits on amazon- £23 incoming
Managed a full day at work without throwing anyone or any computers out of the window! not bad for a Monday :D
