Comping Scrooge

Is it just me, or do you put off buying something you need/want in the (vain) hope that you are going to win it? In particular tech items.

I desperately need a new phone handset, and could buy one if I wanted, but I keep entering competitions thinking that the closing date is not too far away, so if I win one that would save me actually buying one. Although thinking back my current handset was actually a win so I can't really complain.

The same goes for things I would like and could buy (iPad air, iPad Mini, blu-ray player, new camera).

I suppose it counts as moneysaving?

Yeah desperately in the need of a new phone but putting off buying at the moment in he hope that I might win one
  • Yep money is tight so I try and win but then I hardly win so it doesnt work out so I end up buying it lol. I wanted an xbox tried for about a year to win one, ended up buying one then winning one a month later. Ended up giving it to a neighbours grandson for his main Xmas present off them. Ive entered every bed comp out there for my mum after I broke hers (one corner goes down but usable) but no luck. Have bought her one in the sales this week - bound to win one next month lol

Only time for me was with an Xbox. We had wanted one for a few games that were going to be released a bit down the line: a week later we won one! Although I've wanted a few other things for a while now and I haven't managed to win any of them, so the Xbox was just a very lucky one off. But you never know! ;)

Me too - I need a new phone and I'd love an ipad - lost count of the number of comps I've entered for them - may have to give in and buy a phone soon :(

Aaah yes! It can happen though! I won a holiday last month which was amazing, but a few days after I'd been informed about the win I was just saying to my husband that I had no (decent) clothes to take with me...sat down at the laptop immediately after to find a WEM which told me I had won £500 M&S vouchers! Sometimes the comping fairy is looking down on us at just the right time...keep the faith :-) xx
