They did not leave it 'anywhere they pleased' they left it near the bins as instructed.
Near the bins could be anywhere. I agree they only have our word but the onus is upon them to prove delivery I would think.0 -

Homeagain, I'd contact Coco White again and state that the item was not delivered. If they don't respond maybe contact the credit/debit card company about a chargeback.
Thank you for your reply - Coco White have indicated that they consider the matter finalised/out of their hands, blaming DPD couriers. I doubt they will respond to any further emails. I have left negative feedback on their site but I don't think it will help. Do you think that DD's debit card company will be sympathetic as its only 20.00? Pity as it takes her three hours to earn that.0 -

If you are approaching the bin from one direction (such as from your house), and put something behind the bin, this would be in front of the bin if you are approaching it from the opposite direction.

In some specialised cases the meaning might generally be ambiguous, but only a complete and utter idiot would, in this context, take 'behind the bins' to mean anything other than place them behind from the POV of someone passing in the street.
In fact, I suspect that even someone inside a house with the bins in front of them would understand 'behind the bins' to mean between the bins and the house.

You could email Coco White again and inform them that they are wrong under UK consumer law as your contract is with them and not with DPD and you are not able to pursue DPD for that reason.
DPD have failed to follow your instructions and have provided photographic evidence that they have so failed, so it should not be an issue - which is not to say that it won't be, but I would definitely pursue the matter. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Thank you, I have just done that and will now see what happens.0 -
The instruction will have been recorded on their saturn unit. It will say on the tracking "DPD Consumer: Instructions provided" thats what they will hide behind
email makeitright@dpd.co.uk see what they can do.0 -

So, if you said: "Place item in the shed, lock the door and put the key through the house letterbox, and they chucked it onto the front lawn, they would think: "DPD Consumer: Instructions provided" would let them off the hook? There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0
