You can't use the boost on groceries. You either have £250 of clubcard vouchers which would double to £500 in the boost to buy the 'kitchen machine' or £500 clubcard vouchers which would boost to £1000. For groceries you'd just have the original voucher value.

And you just know what the next vent from the OP will be! ;)

As usual, tomtontom is in such a hurry to wade in and have a go at someone that he makes a fool of himself by not reading the OP.

OP said he had £500 of vouchers, not £250. So is/he understands perfectly well that you don't get a boost for groceries.

I know you love to belittle people here at every opportunity, but you really should curb your excitement and read things properly. Otherwise it's you that looks like the twerp! :rotfl:

He didn't say whether they were doubled up 'boost' vouchers or normal ones. He also stated that he is better off 'using the boost on groceries'. The boost is just the doubling up and only on certain departments, not the clubcard scheme itself.

£500 would double up to £1000.

I got myself a Nutribullet with boost.
It was the same price as in Argos and Amazon, but with vouchers and online codes I got it for £30!

I've never heard of a retailer called "Tescos".
Tesco should really sue them for trademark infringement, it sounds very similar.

    Is that not your job?

    No.

If you actually read the posts where I have a go at someone they are almost invariably because they have been offensive or nasty to someone who posted a problem, here.

Take into account if it's still worthwhile after the boost - if a "kitchen machine" is say £500 at Argos and £600 at Tesco, you would only get £300 of shopping for the vouchers so you're still saving £200.

That said, I seldom if ever use clubcard vouchers in Tesco - it's one of the worst things you can do with them. They're worth approx 2x face value elsewhere. Rail vouchers are a good shout with Red Spotted Hanky.

Some places give you up to 4x, but take that with a pinch of salt as there's usually some sort of deal available for those places anyway, and/or they're generally overpriced. Still, I managed to take four of us for a 3 course meal in Prezzo the other weekend for twenty quids worth of vouchers, plus drinks. I've also had RAC membership as well, although again they're not worth 4x as if you bought normally you'd get cashbackback through TopCashBack or Quidco.

Boost was often with electricals for small appliances. Previously, the big question here was 'does it apply to TVs?' More recently it apply to bigger white goods - washer machines etc.
As with anything it's always wise to work out the figures.

Homebase recently had a 15% off weekend, their Cuprinol fence paint was buy one get the second one half price. However, the Tesco offer is buy three, pay for two - it's cheaper than Homebase, and it's covered by the Boost promotion.

Also, much to my surprise, Entertainment in 'Direct' is also included so CDs from £3.00 in Boost.
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard
  • Our latest club card point came to £3:50. Added to the previous we now have £6. We could get £9 off if we waste £30 with these cowboys.

And all the points put on by the Tiger filling station, at 4p cheaper a litre. Boycott T and other emporiums

You need to put all this into context.

Arguably, the Clubcard vouchers are a 'free' gift. OK, you could argue that you paid for them through shopping etc, but you still could have shopped elsewhere and not got them. So they are arguably 'free'.

So if you now buy something with those vouchers, that purchase is free. The arguments of it being cheaper elsewhere are fine - go and buy it elsewhere and pay £x pounds out of your own pocket, or use your 'free' Clubcard vouchers to get it free, and hence, still hold on to the cash in your pocket.

I had this exact issue a few years ago when I booked a holiday using the Clubcard vouchers. Interestingly, the holiday had a sale price of £3000, saving £500 off the recommended price. But when I came to pay with the vouchers, the travel company said I needed to pay the full price (£3500) because I was using the vouchers to pay. So I had the choice, don't use the vouchers and only pay the £3000 sale price out of my own pocket, or use the vouchers to pay the full £3500 to get a 'free' holiday, thereby keeping the cash in my pocket. Simple economics said, pay for the lot using the vouchers.
