Stair lift

Hi all,
My dad is 72 and has problems walking about and struggles to walk up stairs to his room for bed.
He is on benefits and was wondering how to apply for a grant for a stair lift for his house. He is a tenant so does not own his house either. I'm not sure where to start to apply for one? Any help on pointing in the right direction would be great thanks.

he needs to ask his dr for a referral to an ot for an assessment of needs as a first step, then that would be sent to local council for them with regards to any grants. Be warned these are being cut back and there could be a long waiting list.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

my other half has just put one in we got from an advert and warning , measure and measure again as these when first fitted are bespoke to the stairs you have, also some are left side and some right sided, it is a major fiddle to adjust the innards to work if changing, We now have an issue where I will not be able to get off at bottom due to rad in way so it was total waste of time and money and back to drawing boardI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

As he is a renter, why not get hold of Social Services for him and push for Sheltered Housing?0 -

Perhaps simpler to move the radiator?0 -
2nd hand ones are fine, but need to be aware of the layout and size of stairs in the property you are putting it into and make sure the one you are getting will either fit or can be suitably altered safely to do so. I am lucky my other half is an electrical and mechanical engineer so knows what he is doing, https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/housing/discrimination-in-housing/what-are-the-different-types-of-discrimination-in-housing/discrimination-in-housing-adaptations-to-your-home/I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

we have sorted it out now by puting track at slight angle so usable, and better than my repeated eddie the eagle training sessions on the stairs due to my my balance issues, which resulted in me knocking myself out couple weeks ago,I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
Housing association or council if social housing should have a person who can help with this. My mum had one put in by the local authority about 9 years ago but we had to fight for it. They took it out after she passed away and presumably they reuse them for other tenants if they are in good order. She only had it for about a year but it was a great help to keep her independent and living in her own home.0
