Hangouts on wifi tablet

I cannot see what use Hangouts is on my wifi only tablet, samsung galaxy note 2014, yet Google insists on installing it. Surely it's aimed at phones?

It enables you to make VOIP calls via any wi-fi hotspot. Google want you to use it instead of Skype.

I have hangouts on my ipad as well as viber, skype and messenger, all of which enable me to have live video with another person should I so wish. Each of them do live messenger (typing) also.

Often tablets come with pre-installed apps. Both my previous tablet, a Samsung galaxy had them as well as my ipad. The thing is, whilst there may be several you may not wish to use, they can irritate simply because they are there, occupying space. But, if you drag one of them over another, a box appears with both of them in it, normally it will take eight, so you can drag and drop to your hearts content. What you should then do, and they let you, is create a name, as in Unused 1 and Unused 2 and so on. So two boxes created this way, will take 16 of those unwanted pre-installed apps.
