car insurance cancellation 4k...

hi,

i had a comprehensice car insurance with Admiral. they've selected not to renew me this year as I had two accidents on the same year (bad luck) and I've just received a letter saying:

a balance of 4,363.84 is due which we will shortly debit from the relevant payment details

the charge for your policy has been calculated in accordance with General Condition 4 of the guide to your admiral cover booklet and is the standard rate for this period of cover.

anyone knows what this is about?

sounds like a total rip-off to me....

any advice appreciated

    When is your renewal date?

Are they cancelling due to you writing the car off?

If you don't know what it's for then dispute it immediately and ask them not to take the money till the dispute is resolved

my renewal date was 25th. they said it was not a cancellation as such, but they chose not to renew it. they didnt cancel it at an earlier date.

    how do I dispute it?

does it make sense in general that I should pay such a large amount having a fully comprehensive cover?

If they are simply not renewing your policy, then I don't see how you would be required to pay for that years policy?

I would contact them and ask them what the £4000 is for.

Contact them and tell them you dispute the charge.

Without knowing why they say you owe this money it's impossible to comment on what is the sense of it.

    It could be a mistake??

Were you paying monthly? What was your original total premium? How much is left to pay?

I suspect it was a mistake and they have asked you for the whole premium instaed of what's remaining to pay.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.
  • I suspect it's a mistake. I just got two demands for £366 just for changing my vehicle, despite them saying it would be totally free earlier today on the phone. I was about to renew but their quote was overpriced so I amended existing only. Don't like how you can't email them, heck I can't even view my documents for want of an unspecified plugin.

The £4k is their system saying "We don't want to quote BUT you meet the criteria so we have a rule to quote so we will quote a stupid amount"

If anyone here works in a broker and use OGI You'll see that on Markerstudy Bespoke it quotes £10k until referral.

Its a shame that they sent you the notice.
