They don't do an A* if that's what you are after.

Don't be surprised if they don't ask for proof of deposit.

Final update the the time scale of my mortgage application to Halifax

24/05/15 purchase offer accepted by the vendor
29/05/15 made the full mortgage application in Halifax branch
05/06/15 provided the latest payslip to the MA
    10/06/15 application approved

So totally 10 days to get my mortgage offer issued. Impressed again by Halifax! Also thank amnblog and kingstreet for generous suggestions! The bank indeed did NOT ask for proof of deposit and yes, I was worried about nothing... Now I need to push the vendor harder to give my solicitor necessary documentation!

Solicitor will handle this on behalf of the lender and act in accordance with their instructions and requirements.
  • Hi all.
    I am currently in a same-ish situation.
Got myself a principal agreement for a new built and currently in the process of the full mortgage application. Halifax require prove of built up of the deposit fund over 6 month.

My situation is that my funds was transfered overseas to parents as a form of saving over the past 5 years and recently at the begining of the year they have returned a large part of the money in form of cash during their visit.

This leaves me in a rather awkward position.
Would appreciate if an expert could shed some light.

    Many Thanks in advance

We are going through halifax and our solicitors have just asked for proof of deposit. They've also asked for proof of funds for us to pay them the fees.
