Perhaps one question about the Halifax credit scoring: We were told by the MA to pass the credit scoring with A. May I know if this is the top credit rating in Halifax?

They don't do an A* if that's what you are after.

Don't be surprised if they don't ask for proof of deposit.

Hah, you are very humorous, Amn. I provided my proof of deposit to MA and she told me it was not necessary at all...

I read some posts in the board saying they were rated A1/A2/A3 by Halifax, so just be curious what my A credit score is, A1 or A2 or A3.....

Halifax will expect your broker and your solicitor to collect proof of deposit in a Halifax acceptable format. It can be requested any time in the future.

Halifax does not routinely request proof of deposit from the borrower as amn said.

Thank you for advice, Kingstreet. I did not submit my application via the broker but the MA of Halifax and I should have met the broker who will free me from so much stress!

Halifax asked for a proof of deposit when I applied with them last week. We provided the ISA statement. Thing is, we've been building up that deposit for several years, some of it was transferred in from old accounts that have been closed for a few years. Halifax approved us, even with just the latest ISA statement....

The solicitor has asked for the same proof, though I have yet to hear whether the statement will be enough. I have no idea how we would prove where all that money came from originally, just from standard incomes!

Hi halfabee, may I know how you provided your statement and how long the underwriter received and then approved your app. Most of our bank accounts, including ISA, are with the Halifax. We are not worried about the proof but the time scale needed to underwrite all of these documents in Halifax...

    20/05/2015 Submitted mortgage application
22/05/2015 Got bank to fax ISA statement for proof of deposit since we did not have paper copies
27/05/2015 valuation booked in for 03/05/2015
05/06/2015 Mortgage offered, documents in the post

So 2.5 weeks in all, with a delay in the middle to wait for valuation appointment and one bank holiday.

We had a similar situation when we bought our current house. I had sold a lot on Amazon and Play.com. The money from this formed 100% of our deposit. Our mortgage broker asked for proof of the deposit so we printed off the transactions from both Amazon and Play.com and sent these to our mortgage broker. This, along with the bank statements showing the deposits from Amazon/Play.com going into our current account were sufficient to please the mortgage broker.

Halifax never did request proof of deposit from the mortgage broker though... In fact, the only thing they requested was 3 payslips for me and 6 pay slips for my wife (as she was employed by my ltd co).

Hi gazfocus. Glad to see you had the similar situation and share with us. Also fascinated and reassured by your successful experience! Hope we can have some good news in near future :)
