This is an auction where you can bid for an upgrade. It is available for travel agent bought tickets.
You can bid to upgrade if you are eligible - you enter name and check in reference to find out.
Lottery - so no guarantee but I got upgraded to business from economy from Kuala Lumpur to Perth for £125.

I saw that....though they offered me a fair amount less than that. Are you only upgrading one way? I thought about it, but just upgrading a quarter of the flight seemed a waste of time and money.
If it were for both ways, I would snap it up.0 -
Bidding process available on several airlines now.
KLM and Aer Lingus have systems and Plusgrade covers another 9 airlines. There may be more.

one way but meant I arrived in Perth refreshed and ready to go! Also I had never experienced business class so I saw it as part of a holiday 'trip' equivalent. I may have achieved it for less but that was what I was willing to pay and indicator told me had fair chance of acceptance.
Really interested to know about other airlines - think it a great idea0 -

That's the one I was trying to think of when I posted yesterday.0 -
This is very interesting, have never heard of any of these but will look into them more on my next long haul trip.
Do emirates not do the same thing?Blessed on 18th February 2014 at 0814 with little Sarah xxx0 -
I'm flying short haul with Malaysian tomorrow. I booked direct and they emailed me last week giving me this option. As the flight is only 1hr 30 mins I declined but it would be interesting to consider long haul. The email link had a sliding scale of red to green indicating if I'd be successful depending on how much I was prepared to pay.0
