over credit charge

Hi I always pay credit card each month so not to get charged interest. However this month I had a note on my stment saying I had incurred an over credit limit charge this month due to exceeding credit limit. I think this was due to an order on the internet that was taken off my account when the goods were in stock. I did not know this happened I can only remember going over my limit once before years ago and they just put up my limit. As a good payer should I ask for a refund?

it wouldn't hurt to ask

as they say, you dont ask if you dont get...( although you still might not get)!!

I didn't think a company was supposed to charge a card until goods shipped (I think that is what their merchant agreement says)

Mind you in return the credit card company may say 'you should not use your card if you know that you are going to go over the limit'

However, there is no harm in asking Point out that the items were not in stock and you did not expect the company to charge your card.

Thanks :jfor info I asked and they waived charge and put my limit up by£1,400.
