Generic Domain - what do you think?

hey all - I am looking at registering a domain and was wondering what is the perception of 'generic domain' like .travel, .flights, etc?

I know they have been there for a while... but I hardly see them being used.

Would you be wary of those domains vs a .com or co.uk?
Thanks

I would say it's better to have a good .travel than it is a crappy .com
    eg
    Dingletons.travel is better than Dingletons-travel.com

I don't think it's all that important what the suffix is but it's good if the google keywords are in the domain name.
