Same Laptop - different hard drives

I've just got a SSD drive for my Dell Laptop and am feeling uncertain about the process.
If it goes wrong for some reason, can I just put in the old hard drive again and it will work as it did before?

if you clone it and swap it back today ..then yes.
otherwise as you use the new one the old one will be stuck with data only up until today.0 -

Yes, if you put the old one back in, your laptop will work exactly is it did, just before you switched it off and took it out.0
