Why do charity shops seem to have so few books?

I understand that Oxfam check (or at one time checked) eBay prices
and then price(d) their stock accordingly. You are unlikely to get a bargain there, but I have found some interesting rare books, except when they have their post Xmas 50p sale. Their out of date (rather than historic) OS maps are definitely overpriced.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
