    Do banks really care if you spend 50p every two months using your debit card? Does that prove you are using an account the way they want?

    I have no idea. But haven't the other closures come from people who never/rarely made a debit transaction on their accounts? Either way, if it reduces the risk then I'm happy to whack some spending on my plastic.

    Out of interest, why did you do a £1 and a £10 payment?

    When you first set up a payment to someone it's not a bad idea to send a small amount to start with, just to test that it arrives ok, ie that you haven't input any incorrect account digits. However, doing this often sets off alarm bells at the banks. Also if you send two amounts close together, on the same day, to a new payee it seems to upset them. As does sending large amounts for the first time. I've found that setting a payment for a larger payement for a day or two after setting up a new payee seems to work unhindered.

    I think the question was more why send the 'intermediate' (and unnecessary?) payment of £10? Why not just the £1 followed by the £1,500?

    Nothing clever. £1 so I knew it worked. £10 so I could spend it.

    If your accounts are closed write to Lloyds requesting SAR.

    You will get all the notes made by Lloyds which can figure out how your account was closed.

    My Brother requested and received all the notes which says account closed due to previous account conduct. If cost rings just advice due to infor received from CRA.

    Get yourself a new account ASAP just in case they wrongly suspect fraud and go chucking you on CIFAS all willy-nilly. You wouldn't get a new account after that.

    Surely that was obvious it was due to account conduct but your brother is no farther forward because there are no details made available to him at what caused the concerns in the first place.

    Invariably they don't give a reason why they are closing the accounts.

    Majority of people will know what and why themselves.

    Well I'm seriously considering closing my 3x BOS Vantage and my Halifax Reward accounts.

    My main banking is done with Lloyds, and whilst I appreciate that account switching isn't difficult these days, I'm very happy with the service provided and don't want to move somewhere else.

    The chances of being picked up still seem to be very small, but I'm not sure it's a risk I want to take.
    Did that a few weeks ago. After the last debacle on here, I closed my 3 Bos a/cs, probably too cautious,I wasn't going to give them that pleasure. They did so, no reply, no letter, just did it within days.?? Were they going too anyway,who knows.? I took out 2x 65+ bonds @ 3% with the money, so, nothing lost..However, I also asked LLoyds to close my Club A/c,they asked why?, please rethink, which I did, and refunded it and set up DD's again.Now, Halifax want me too switch to their reward A/c , £200 free, think I will, switch an unused one,LBG are playing silly beggars still, always keep a spare.a/c, can you afford to risk them closing them? I could, but, wouldn't give them the pleasure.
    Hard to type this with timing out still occurring;

    I can't see the point or advantage in closing accounts that are benefitting you in some way. Can you explain what is the point?
