Im sure I remember reading somewhere that the more you search, the more likely premiums will increase? is this a myth?
also, I understand browsing habits can increase results?
so I use incognito browsing to check for quotes.

Insurance searches are only seen by you and have no bearing your possible credit rating

Are you referring to quotation searches recorded on your credit history? If so, these are "soft" footprints and are not visible to anyone other than you. These searches cannot be used to adjust premiums.

Browsing for products that have variable pricing (flights, hotels & insurance policies being good examples) can result in prices being adjusted by the vendor based on the customer's browsing behaviour. This is not a myth and I have seen it myself when looking for flights on Skyscanner. The vendor makes use of cookies to enable price discrimination. Clearing cookies before each browsing session or browsing incognito can circumvent this. There are a fair number of articles online on this topic.
