Renting without payslips

I am starting my first job post university start of June but sadly they pay at the end of the month which means I won't see any money until the end of June.
However I really want to rent a flat before I get my first payment. Will agencies accept this or will they demand proof of income? I could easily pay rent a few months upfront, would this make them more likely to accept?
Or will showing them the contract and stated pay be enough to convince them?

Usually a letting agent/landlord will want at least one month's deposit up front plus one month's rent in advance plus admin fees.
On top of this they will need proof of income and history of employment plus credit checks.
Your options are to stay with family and friends for a while/house share/offer 6 months upfront/offer a guarantor/look for rooms/flats through friends/colleagues/newspaper ads rather than using a letting agent.0 -
It'll depend upon the agency/landlord.
Simplest thing to do is just be straightfoward. Explain the situation and see if they will accept a contract of employment in lieu of payslips (the company could also write a letter to the agency confirming your start date and pay). If they don't go for this then offer upfront rent payment of 2/3 months (don't offer this initially as you might not need to give it). Best to do this before going through the rigmarole of viewing/applying etc, though beware that what a agent says should be ok informally over the phone may turn out to be not ok when it comes to the actual application. At least if they're definitely not going to take you without payslips you should find out before viewing.0 -
Yes be upfront. Get a formal letter from the company confirming your employment and see what agencies in your area say. I didn't have any payslips when I rented my first bedsit, but I don't think I needed payslips to rent 5 years ago either?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

It depends on the landlord and your own personal circumstances (how safe a bet you seem).
When I rented the place I am in now I had to submit to a credit check, provide first month's rent upfront, plus the deposit, as well as having my future employer provide a reference confirming my imminent employment and how much I will earn, and they also wanted my parents as guarantor. Since my parents refused, I asked them to ignore the need for a guarantor, and ultimately they did because had I jumped through all of the other hoops and it wasn't worth having a property go empty when someone could be living in it paying rent.
When I rented a place over ten years ago, I could afford to pay the first six month's rent upfront, which meant they did not need any proof of income (I was unemployed at the time), although I still needed my parents to act as guarantor since I was a mostly unknown entity.0
