Amazon Prime next day delivery!

Signed up to Amazon Prime so I can get next day delivery. Just ordered a vacuum cleaner from Amazon (not a market place trader) and recieved an email saying ' Estimated dispatch date 17th JUNE! delivery date 18th June! Silly old me thought that next day delivery meant next day after ordering not next day after dispatchng it a month later!!! Still, look on the bright side, no hoovering the carpets for four weeks!

Yeah depends who's delivering the item, could not be Amazon. If it is, then they're waiting for delivery of the product.
Usually shows the dispatch date only when you get to the confirm purchase stage, most people skip looking carefully on this page. Amazon Prime is well worth it IMO, I get everything from Amazon because of the guaranteed service I get, including returns etc.

So well done Amazon, your business model is working on me.

I order quite a lot of smaller items (not usually cheap) from Amazon and find that they send them by Royal Mail so usually 4/5 days delivery not 'next day'. It only seems to be bigger courier delivered items that are next day.
  • Usually, it will say if it isn't going to be 'next day' for a Prime item (usually if it it out of stock)

BUT.. if you receive something AFTER the date they originally said they'd deliver it, you can complain and easily get a months free Prime (Worth about £6.50)

If I order an item and click on Prime 'next day delivery' and see that it is being delivered by Royal Mail I know that it will not be delivered 'next day' but at least I don't have to wait in all day for a courier as the postie will deliver it!
P.S. Just checked my order and it does say ' In stock 16th June' so my fault for not reading the order properly! Naughty me!!

Are you sure it didn't say 'Not covered by Amazon Prime' (or words to that effect)?

I looked into subscribing to 'prime but noticed that a lot of items I buy are either marketplace or have that restriction. And there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason related to product type.

All in all it wasn't worth the money with so many things not covered and when I'm almost always happy to wait a couple of days.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

The item did have the 'Prime' logo next to the heading but the item is being sold by 'Home and Kitchen' Like yourself, I am not too bothered about waiting a few days for an order but as I paid £79 for the Prime Instant Video which includes 'next day delivery' I thought I might as well use it!

Amazon CS are spot on, if you email them and say you asked for next day delivery they'll compensate you.

The OP admits they made a mistake in not noticing the item is not available until June - there is nothing to be compensated for.

Oh perleese! I am not looking for compensation! My naughty for not reading the order properly. Not vacuuming the carpets for four weeks is not going to cause any great traumas in my life! It just means I will not be able to eat crusty rolls and crumbly cake for a while when I'm watching telly!
