Just wondered if anyone had been and if it was a good place to take two small girls (aged 6 and 4)?

I live nearby and love it. As it is a museum about history it might be a bit 'old' for your children. However there is lots to do there.....sheep, goats, playground. Also a lovely (long) walk around the site. Regular events....last time I went they were focusing on the Romans and had people dressed as a Roman garrison doing marching drills, cooking on camp fires etc etc.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0

It's great to go when an event is on. My sons love the candlemaking area, the playground, the school-house.. it's a really nice place.
Bit of a money saving tip - there's a cafe a mile down the road before you get to the museum; they've got discount voucher leaflets available.0 -
Thanks. I live quite close too and was debating between this and the model village in beaconsfield.
Might wait till there's an event on.
As for food, I take picnics everywhere as my girls are fussy and it's not mse to buy lunch!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I think that Ringo meant there were discount vouchers inside the cafe to use to get into the museum rather than eating there.0 -
It was quite a cheap cafe from memory - but you'd want to safe your appetite for the museums cafe (Tea and scones are great!).I think that Ringo meant there were discount vouchers inside the cafe to use to get into the museum rather than eating there.
Yes, i meant you'll find museum discount vouchers in the cafe!0
