Universal credit or income support/housing benefit

I am currently in receipt of child tax credit. Next week, due to a change in my circumstances, I will be able to claim housing benefit and income support. I know that I live in an area where Universal Credit applies and that I meet all of the basic criteria for claiming it. I'm unsure whether I should continue to claim child tax credits and apply for income support and housing benefit or if I should apply for Universal Credit instead. Any ideas?

Hi Chicken24 and everyone,
I am in exactly the same situation, I work term time (where I pay a lot of tax and NI) and for the first time in my 13 years of employment need to claim JSA, just over the summer I must say.
I have attempted to make a claim yet stopped when the first monthly amount I would receive would be £630. My rent alone is £400 and I have two children under the age of 10.
I am currently in receipt of certain benefits and cannot understand the figure they have given me as I would be 'better off' now0
