Don't laugh please (I can practically hear the titters already) - this is probably going to be a really silly question but I'm having one of those days so you will have to excuse me! I Just got a new computer and have set it up with no real problems except that when I need to log onto my hotmail account via the desktop there is no icon to click (obviously) so I went to the hotmail website and logged in, however, there is no information there about what I need to do to set up the desktop log in. I think it says I have to sign up and download as any newbie would but that I can use my current hotmail account email address. However, it consistently refuses to allow this. What am I doing wrong???? Have I missed something??

You can't set up a desktop icon - that'll be something that was added by the company that built the computer.
At best you can go to Control Panels, Internet Options, Programs and set the e-mail client to Hotmail which will change the icon in the Start menu.0 -
Try going to your Hotmail log-in page and the do File, Send, Shortcut to Desktop. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

As above you can create your own little icon for the desktop and set it as a link to hotmail.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

You dont mean the MSN log in on the desktop do you?
If so type in "windows live" in "Start" then search bar and click the "download windows live" option.
Then download and install it.
Assuming your new pc's running vista0 -
I too think she means Messenger/Windows Live.0
