Ryobi petrol strimmer

Options
Hi there
Wondering if anyone can help me with a problem with my Ryobi petrol strimmer
The machine fires up without any problem, but when I try to rev up it keeps dying and cutting out
The machine is less than 1 year old, but cannot find any receipt for it, so cannot use the warranty for repair
Have also got a second machine, about 2 years old that has the same problem
Would welcome any advise as to how to repair this, as I also use it for hedge cutting
Seems the quality of Ryobi is going down the pan

Thanks

Sounds like its running too lean, there should be an adjuster to make it a little richer.

thanks for that, will give it a try, but not sure if it is that
It ticks over on start-up, but as soon as you squeeze the throttle it dies straight away

Do you let it warm up ? let it tick over for 30 seconds or so and then press the trigger slowly until it is running at full pelt.
Also might be worth checking the air filter , I stripped my lawnmower down checking everthing before I found out it was the dirty air filter.
I simple check is to try it without the air filter on then you will know if thats the problem .
Then move on to fresh fuel and make sure you are mixing it right check the manual mine is 50:1

+1 to checking the fuel mix. Might not be the case here but I used to have a lot of problems with my strimmer because I just used same mix for all tools, but the small engines in strimmers are notoriously sensitive.

Could be dirt in the fuel lines, filter or carb. As its the same on two machines it could be from your fuel can.
