If you are paying a CMC to do this then ring them up and complain if you are not getting updates - assuming it's not at the FOS in which case you have to wait your turn.

The "didn't know I had it" line is fairly worn to be honest, it would have been on your bank statement every month along with being mentioned on the mortgage paperwork you signed (either in branch or with a broker), simply forgetting about it is not a miss-sale reason - did you have anything stronger such as evidence how you could have paid your mortgage if you lost your job or were off work long term sick?

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Northern Rock sold standalone MPPI and did not attach it to the mortgage.

Bad wording on my part, apologies, I meant the general paperwork associated with the mortgage i.e. insurance, MPPI, mortgage etc

Did you buy the insurance via NR or did you use a broker?
