Balance transfer offer from Barclaycard

Options
I have a BC Platinum visa but have no current BT offers.

I have a 0% offer coming to end on another card and ideally would have liked to transfer that to BC at 0%.

I just called them to ask if I could have an offer otherwise I would have to take out another card to get a 0% offer in which case I would also transfer my existing BC balance too and would then close my BC account. They said no!

Does anyone know of a way of persuading them to play ball? Or should I just take out a new card to get a nice long 0% offer?

    I was in a similar position, and phoned them to close my card. They asked why - I said I wanted to apply for another card for a BT.
    They started negotiating with me until I got an acceptable deal and agreed to stay.

    ah ok, and you did this with a balance owing on the BC when you asked to close it?

    I can't remember if I had a balance on the BC, but I was looking to transfer about £9k from another card.
    If you need a BT, then I guess you have two options;
    1. Apply to a new provider (use the soft search on here to indicate your likely chances of acceptance to the best offers.
    2. Ask BC to reconsider by telling them you are going to open another card and transfer everything onto it, incl whatever you owe BC, then you plan to close your account - pretend you are asking how to do this, then play it by ear.
    Good luck.
