Selling off my car registration number?

I have recently found out through a work colleague that my car registration maybe in demand. Apparently it similar to a popular Asian name so in theory it should be in demand.

My car has the standard pre-fix UK registration, 2 letters, 2 numbers denoting the year followed by 3 letters.

Today I got my registration plate valued with 'CLICK4REG', paid £10 and received an email back saying its worth £475.

Is it worth me selling it off for profit and then buy a cheaper standard number plate?

If you sell the plate, you get a replacement age-related plate assigned automatically.

Whether anybody will buy it is another question. The sort of disreputable registration site which preys on the gullible enough to charge for a quote is going to give an unrealistic figure.

What's the plate, and how tenuous is the "spelling" of this name?

if it is a ??51 NGH plate then it could be worth a few quid if it is some spurious link to a name that only a cross eyed drunk person can see then don't bother

care to share with us what the plate or part plate reads

I thought DM's A3 was 2003, but I might be being charitable here by taking the question at face value.

has he really got an A3 S-line look a likey that has been to the moon and back?

I know it is the only believable thing he ever said in his past guises but like you at the moment everything is taken with a pinch of salt

    You're off again ain't you.

Your missus is Asian so she'll know more than us on Asian members.

    It's -J--OTA.
And no it's several years newer than a 03 plate.

My colleague who happens to be Asian says JOTA is a common Sikh Indian name.

So you think somebody called "Jota" (not a name I've ever heard, but...) is going to pay £500 for a plate that says <say> EJ54OTA?

Do you really think that somebody called Dave would pay £500 for LD05AVE? Or Paul for GP55AUL? Or Jess for NJ06ESS? Do you even know what the word "tenuous" means? I'll bet this plate vendor were laughing at you as they took your tenner.

I took you at face value this time, but you're either trolling badly again, or you really are stupider than yeast.

A spurious link that only a cross eyed drunk man can see, just leave the plate where it is and dont waste your time

never heard of Jota or Jotta being used as an indian name but you never know
