Building regs query

Hi,
I've been researching the following query on good old Google but have not found a definitive answer yet.
The current owner of the house we are planning to buy blocked up the doorway from the house into the garage and inserted a new doorway into the side of the garage.
The new opening into the side of the garage seems to have been done correctly.
My question is should building regulations approval have been sought to do this work?
Also, the new door into the garage is a UPVC one. Is this subject to FENSA/Building regs approval even though it is not a door into the property?
Thanks.

When I built behind my garage the door joining house to garage had to be a fire door.0

In regards to the question about FENSA, doors with less than 50% glazing do not require registration so it would depend on the type of door.0
