  • I know a friend who uses Toni & guy hair gum which works well and gives a nice texture. It's not particularly cheap but available from most Boots.
The hair brand fudge have several products which are very good for hold but can be hard to find. If you have a Trade Secret shop nearby, try that.

  • I use loreal textureizing fibre glue gel. It works well on my short hair, and 5 min into my day its dry all day.

Found I was putting it on wrong (water and too much) and didn't dry till luch time, now put on a small ammount, just enough to coat the fingures and put it on dry.

Its pretty strong, allows different styles (you gotta be quick) and dries relativley firmley.

I had really short hair and have varying styles inbetween a grade 5 and shoulderlength!

It depends really if you want to stick with one style or play with it really. I liked doing different things and my cabinet always had the following:

Blue dax wax (fouind with mens grooming but not sure why!) - last forever as you need the smallest amount, great for glossy hair but doesnt "set" so you may need hairspray too

Tigi hair gum - just like chewing gum, not cheap but is the most fantastic stuff and no substitute on the high street. You can only really use on very short hair though, never sets as such but if your hair gets flat just give a good scrunch and its back again! Great for a textured or spiky look but doesnt look unnatural.

Fructis spray gel - loads of different kinds from rock solid to a gentle hold. Find the really strong stuff impossible to look natural and get right. Works well for slightly longer hair, gives great etxture and often on offer.

Hairspray is a must too but I find you dont need much and any brand will do.

    Have fun!
