This brings home two important issues.

    1) Set up a DD to pay at least the minimum payment each month.
    2) Check accounts regularly, even unused accounts as you never know they could be compromised.

Well MBNA were great, the manager i spoke to was brilliant. He was sympathetic and understood, and was able to see what had happened. So i got a refund of £1254 (9 months) of interest, and 10 months of late fees £120. DD setup and date moved to start of month.Credit is not affected as payments were made, just late so credit file intact. i'm happier about things now . thanks for advice and info folks. :)

Won't the payments have been reported as 'late' each month?

I would definitely check your credit file OP. Good news on the face of it though.

Fantastic, that's great to hear and I imagine a massive weight off your shoulders. Really nice to hear a common sense approach from MBNA too.
