Got a Galaxy that, for months, has been popping up an "engine malfunction" warning. Apart from that - car is fine.
Got a mobile mechanic guy whos done work for us in the past and he seems very good. So I got him around to read the codes etc.
Turns out there are 29. Not real codes but false ones for thing like brake light bulb, ABS which are all fine.
Hes got a contact at Ford Dealer who says 100% its a known problem with the speedo and the ECU. Can fix it for £200.
So I researched this online - can't find a thing. Also, got a mate who's a service manager at different ford dealer. Hes checked bulletins etc, asked his techies and never heard of it. Seems think it might be something spiking the ECU.
So what to do? Don't want to shell out £200 to not fix the problem. Or should I say to my mechanic fella, yes if you're confident it'll fix the issue then go ahead but if it doesn't I dont want to pay for it.

Get the codes cleared, drive the car until the light comes on, then read the proper codes again. Then research what they are, no point spending money on it until then.0

agreed with the above , clear the codes and await any new one appearing , if it helps the OP , I have a generic book that gives codes , and in there cryptic chineese attempts to state what they are , if the OP PMs me or posts the codes on here , I and others will help0

Done that. Come back almost immediately. Like I said there are 29 of them.0 -

Ah yes thats what my mechanic said - something like that anyway.
Which is why he said a fix, albeit fiddly, would fix this. Like I said, his mate says 100% this is the issue.
Do you have any links/further info on this? Would be good to get the info...
Like I said, I know for a fact that these fault codes are incorrect. There are zero problems with car.0
