Just looking at a 50 inch Tv and they have them in Lite Smart and Full Smart, the difference being around £90 more for the full smart.
Anyone know what the difference is between both?
Cheers

You would have to let us know what the TVs are for anyone to hazard a guess.0

I imagine the details are on the manufacturer's web site.0

Cheers, this is the Tv on Amazon, it is a Hisense (American brand)
Full smart is £120 more than the Lite smart not £90 as i first thought.
Not much detail on there about the difference if you could enlighten me?
Thanks

I wouldn't waste any money on "smart" features. Buy an external box with the smart features you need (Roku, AppleTV, etc.) with the money you saved and you'll be more likely to be able to update it in 2 years. And even if not, it's cheaper to replace this box than the whole tv.0 -

Cheers for the advice Tronator, how much are external boxes with all features on mate, ive got £700 Amazon vouchers and was looking for a 50 inch Smart tv and Sound base to go with it you see.
Would i be able to buy a 50 inch normal Led without Smart, a Smart box and a Sound base still with my Vouchers do you think?
Thanks0 -

Forget 'smart' anything.
Its hype. What features do you want/need?0 -

£700 is more than enough for that. The TV is £329 and these boxes are £100 or less. I can't really recommend any of the "smart boxes" since I use a self built media center for that, but from what I heard, the Roku boxes are quite good. But there are different versions and someone else could help you with choosing the right one. It all depends on what apps you need on it.
But since you have to burn £700
I would go for a PVR (Humax?) where you can record/watch more than one channel at the same time. But again, I can't help you with choosing the right one. 0 -
Brilliant, thanks for your Advice guys, im a complete novice really as you can probably tell. Do you think that Televison for £329 without the Smart is a decent enough Tv then?
Im not really a massive Tech head, just want to be able to watch movies on the Tv via Usb that i download, rather than burn to Dvd all the time as i only watch them once then bin the Dvd if no friends/family are interested in having it, and i also would like to watch Youtube via the Tv.
I am currenly looking at the Sony HT-XT1 soundbase which is £219 as it looks pretty cool with decent reviews unless anyone can recommend a better soundbase sold by Amazon for around the same price?

That PVR humax looks decent Tronator but at £200 im not sure i would use all the features on it. How much is a basic box that will get me smart on the Tv mate? Such as Youtube app?

There are tons of options. from a basic Amazon Fire stick (apps but no media playback) for about £30
Android boxes a plenty.
Eg http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00SKVN79M/ref=sr_ob_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1432837705&sr=8-5
Research these. many many available
As with tronator,I run a media PC for main media purposes. However we have a couple of WD TVs upstairs.

I ordered mine from Amazon recently when they had them at £25 but they have gone back up to their normal price £35 now. There are tons of options. from a basic Amazon Fire stick (apps but no media playback) for about £30
Argos have still got them at £25 if you are quick http://www.argos.co.uk/static/ArgosPromo3/includeName/fire-tv-stick.htm?storeId=10151&referredURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.argos.co.uk%2Fstatic%2FArgosPromo3%2FincludeName%2Ffire-tv-stick.htm%3F&cjsurferid=876802770118489091%3AVgeDIAnXB77I&referrer=COJUN&_%24ja=tsid%3A11674%7Cprd%3A1546795&cmpid=COJUN&catalogId=10001
When mine arrives I am going to put KODI on it. That will make my TV an excellent smart TV.0
