Renting somewhere while renovating. Or not...

The cottage I've bought needs extensive work - including a new kitchen, opening out at least one old fireplace and a fair bit of plumbing.. I have two months left to run on my 6 month tenancy term - then it's on a month by month basis. However I very much doubt I'll get the work done in two months!
Meanwhile I'm shelling out £450 per month rent which is a big chunk out of my income. Would you just grin and bear it and stay till the worst of the work is done or would you just move in and camp out in one room perhaps?
Ps there's just me and the dog

I've just moved into a property that needs complete renovating. I'm camping out in the bedroom and dining room which I have fairly organised, and currently getting quotes for the bathroom and kitchen. After that I need to knock down and rebuild the extension and get something done about the garden (landscaping), and then the decor in the rest of the house.

I have no cooker, so the freezer is stocked with things to go into the microwave, and I bought a small hob in Currys so I can boil eggs etc.

It's been a real shock having moved from a property where I lived for many years, and everything there was modern and the whole house was usable. But it will be worth it in the end.

No children at home, which makes it much easier as adults can see the point of this, and can adapt better.

If you are in a position to remain in your rented accommodation while you get the bathroom done in your new place I would suggest this. Once you have a good bathroom then it's easier to cope with the rest.
