I am typing a document with both the left and right hand margins justified.
In the middle of one paragraph only three words have appeared on one line. The first is justified on the left margin, the second centred, and the third justified on the right margin.
I cannot get this off.
What have I done?

What happens if you set just that line to left align only?
It could be a quirk of the justification, word does some funny things sometimes.
Edit: I am assuming that there is a carriage return or whatever it is called at the end of this line?“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
What happens if you click to display formatting codes, are there any unwanted characters in there? What happens if you delete the offending line and re-type it? Or try cutting a few lines out, and then paste them back in using text only.0

Seems like you may have pressed Shift+Enter to create a new line rather than simply Enter for a new paragraph.
You can display hidden characters and delete the offending linefeed or simply go the right of the last character and press delete.0 -
Occasionally I copy text from a web page to word (eg a recipe) to keep the information whilst getting rid of the rest of the page. Sometimes I encounter what you are experiencing at the end of a paragraph but overcome it by moving the cursor to the end of the offending line and then pressing delete. The text then moves to the required place and I can then separate the paragraphs with a press of the return key. I sometimes also have to highlight all of what I have pasted and format all of it as I wish. Works for me.0

Yes, that is how it has happened. I have copied something in exactly the way you described.Occasionally I copy text from a web page to word (eg a recipe) to keep the information whilst getting rid of the rest of the page. Will try what you have suggested.
Many thanks all.0 -
+1 for WaywardDrivers suggestion, shift enter will make fully justified text behave exactly as you've described.0

Enter Ctrl+Shift+8 to show/hide hidden characters. Then delete the unwanted 'new line' character
