Yesterday I sent a secure message to Capital One asking them to close my account as it offers no perks, they replied back today with the following:
Memo Thank you for your message.
I can confirm that we’ve received your document on 26 May 2015 and a new card with PIN for Mr Paul Donaldson has been requested to your address. You should receive these within seven working days*.
If you’ve any other queries, please send us a further secure message.
(* Please note Capital One’s working days are Monday-Friday excluding bank holidays.)
Who's Paul Donaldson?!
Think I'll email them again...

I just phoned Hsbc to cancel my 2 CC's, which I never use, only to be told, they were cancelled 2013. I said they could have notified me, they said sorry. If I hadn't been with them 50+ years, I would be tempted to switch.;)
only 4 capone to go, after CB.0 -
I'm very tempted to close my Capital One card. I have a barclaycard cashback card and a MBNA rewards card. I kind of wish Capital one allowed some sort of upgrade or reduction in interest rate but unfortunately they don't
If I call to close the account, is there any chance they might upgrade my card in some way?0 -

erm no, they wont. Cap1 have just ceased their cashback offers, so they're a company in decline with majority of cashback customers (myself included) leaving them for other providers.0
