Vanquis new pdf statements missing account & card holder details
Recently (May 2015 for me) Vanquis have introduced a new on-line interface for their cardholders and a new pdf statement format.
This is generally good, the on-line bit is much better. However, you know there has to be a *but* with Vanquis
There is no Account Number, Cardholders Address or, in fact, *any* identifying information on the new pdf statements (the account number was on the old ones).
The pitfalls are obvious, statements are interchangeable (attractive to bad people) and possibly horrendous for folk trying to build credit, "How do we know this statement is yours, Ms Smith? It doesn't have your name or card number or anything else about you on it".
I phoned Vanquis yesterday and the perfectly nice lady was sorry but she couldn't change it (duh! I wasn't expecting her to fix the system), took some persuading that I didn't want paper statements (think of the trees!) and eventually agreed to mention / raise / something with someone.
The only way this is going to get fixed is if more people moan.
If a journalist from MSE wants to see side by side the old and new Vanquis statements they only need to ask as it may prompt an article or at least an enquiry from someone other than a punter to Vanquis HQ.

While I appreciate there are other concerns, lenders will take their data from the CRAs, rather than ask you to send in a pile of statements.0 -
Are you unbothered by a statement of account not saying who the account is for or to?
viz. a pdf with Please pay GBP20 with no address or account details on it.
Cool, I hope all your banking is anonymous too.
Further, lenders and lending are *not* the main issue, you seem to have misread the point of my post.0 -
If it is within my online banking service and matches with my spend history, then no, not particularly, although I would prefer it.
But if you read my post again, you will see I was referring to your point re building a credit history.0 -
I think you were trying to make your point regardless. I'll try not to respond again.0

This was a problem for me recently. During my mortgage application with NatWest, they decided that they wanted me to reduce my total credit card debt to below £1k. The most prudent way to do this was for me to clear the Vanquis card completely. However, rather than proceed with the application (but hold the final offer pending confirmation), NatWest put the whole thing on ice until I provided them with documentary evidence. The online statements were useless, so I had to manually switch back to paper billing on eVanquis, then wait two and a half weeks for them to be generated.0

Hmmn, I'm guessing you're new here too, Timbo. Hope you got sorted out, 1K seems a silly niggle given a mortgage but Vanquis didn't help as you could have produced pdf statements immed if they had the details on them.

Why do you need to provide copies of statements to build a credit history?
Sufficient data is provided to the CRA's every month directly.0 -
Because the CRA's are known to be inconsistent. In any event there is a relevant first person (Timbo) report just above if you'd read through from the top.
I'm still learning etiquette here, I'd have thought you'd know better, but if you can't be arsed to read everything before replying maybe I shouldn't bother either, eh?0
