laptop mouse stops, when ever i plug something else into USB

Been working fine, until recently, have been charging my mobile phone via USB with no problems..
Last night, mouse just froze. Have tried uninstall, update drivers etc, same thing.
unplugging has no effect. Only rebooting without phone plugged in) gets mouse going again?

I was going to say something else, but yeah this is the most likely cause, although phones should detect they're connected to USB and limit their charge rate to under 500mA (usually 300mA).
The thing I was going to mention is USB power saving in Win7 / Win8+, this is a right royal PITA. You'll have to Google how to turn it off, as I can't rightly remember.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
