The advantage of this method is that he gets to see what type of phone you have before he does a runner with it. Any self-repecting mugger would not want to grab your phone only to find he has made off with a Nokia 3330...

So I can rest assured then even if I'd agreed to his request - my Nokia would have been safe:rotfl:

One scam is for some to ask you the time, alot of folk only use the phone & do not wear a wristwatch

Phone out to check time, snatch & scarper

I have had a couple of people ask me the time, and I am in sleepy suburban town, with a town and church clock, I also have watch so time given anyway, maybe a snatch fail there

Gotta watch out in public places like that, scammers at every turn.

Few months ago, waiting with GF to get a train into Birmingham, lady approaches us, gave us a sob story and asked if she could borrow money for her train fair, we said no, we then watched her go around collecting money from 4 different people before crossing the footbridge and leaving the train station.

It's horrible to live in a world where you can't trust anyone, but that's just the way it is. Keep your tech safely locked away and always be mindful of people around you.
