I currently drive an Astra. Researching possible new car to us with the priority being expanding on boot space with having a young family.
My wife sometimes sits in the back with kids so also need comfortable space for rear passengers.
I quite fancy something Insignia or Mazda 6 size but my wife not keen for when she's driving due to the longer wheelbase. She prefers something SUV shaped which has a slightly larger boot and more space from extra height rather than length. Neither of us particularly like people carrier shaped cars and we dont require 7 seats.
Well that's a load of rubbish right there, you won't get a much better boot than in an Insignia or Mazda 6 or Mondeo, SUVs have tiny boots by comparison..... But wait, I guess they are "fashionable". I suppose the white one's have the biggest boots too.
My folks have a Range Rover Evoque, but they are forever borrowing my old Vectra when they need large boot space. It's been called a "debt collectors boot" on a number of occasions.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Too difficult to work out I meant larger than my current astra before you jump in?0 -
We had the 3 door Diesel Type S. Lovely car, especially loved the fact you could store under the back seats. Lots of room, lots of load space, great fuel economy.
Downsides: For me personally I struggled to get in and out of it. The Type S had low sports seats and with joint problems I frequently had to be hoiked out of the car. Rear visibility wasn't brilliant but DH fitted a reversing camera into the number plate light.
Seem to recall clutches going quite quickly in them so make sure you have a decent test drive.0 -
Worth noting that although the view out of the back isn't great Hinda stuck massive wing mirrors on which helps when out on the road. I've never had a problem with the rear view, yes it could be better (and is in the latest generation) but not worth complaining about IMO.0

I was experimenting with my real magic seats the other day and with both folded, the space behind the driver/front passenger seat is huge and uncluttered. I think it could make a good bedspace for solo touringFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
