Repairing water-damaged wall

Hi,
Our conservatory had a leak which we've since repaired, but the wall is still water-damaged.
In some areas the paint is flaking off and in others the plaster has gone a bit crumbly and there's effectively a trench a few mm deep and a cm wide.
See image:

What would be the best way to patch this up before I repaint?
Cheers

Sorry - wrong.
Don't PVA the wall as the emulsion will 'craze'.
Scrape back loose paint, use a proprietory filler, sand smooth and then re-paint.
