Parking charge notice - not in car park - on road

Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I've been reading through the newbie thread, finding it all very complicated with lots of abbreviations I know nothing about.
So I parked on a road at an event on Thursday, along with around 40 other cars, as the hotel car park we attended was full. There were no road markings, I was not in a car park, I was not stopping buisness to any premasis on the business park. I was issued with a parking charge notice from NTC (Norwich Traffic control) along with all the other cars. The parking warden was there when we all found them, and pointed to a sign saying it was permit parking. Yes we all missed this, it wasn't the usual small white sign on a pole, it was A4 sized plastic/board one, which from the back looked like an event flyer. But yes, I take responsibility I missed it.
The fine/fee/invoice whatever you want to call it is for £100 - £60 if I pay within 14 days. Do I have a case that this is an excessive charge?
Will the template letter be applicable as this was on a road, not in a car park?
I'm trying to contact others I know who also received a ticket, does it help to have a few of us?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks

firstly , contact the local council to check if they own the road or it is private before doing anything ,
this might have a significant part in the actions you and possibly the DVLA/BPA/IPC or even the police take0 -
Thanks enfield freddy, I'll do that right now..0

report back , and members can suggest from there0

It's privately owned apparently, on a business park near the airport in Norwich0
-
within the airport boundary?
The ‘Airport’ means all that area comprising Norwich Airport at Amsterdam Way, Norwich which is
operated by or under the control of the Company as hereinafter defined. The term ‘Airport’ shall be
interchangeable with the term ‘airfield’, ‘airstrip’, ‘aerodrome’ or any other like term,
it is possible (if this is the case , that the land is covered by airport bylaws , thus making the land unsuitable for issuing private tickets on.
however you will have to advise more info0 -
the road I was on was Delft Way, which is part of a business park, I'll have a Google and see if I can find if it's part of the airport or not0
-
well delft way runs on to Amsterdam way , and that is the address (above) that the airport use0

wow, it's really hard to make it out on the map they supply on pdf, but thanks so much for it! The road in question is just outside the boundary of the airport.0

Ok , wait for the notice to keeper to arrive (29-56 days) in the meantime go back and read the "newbies" post , you will gather a lot of info there0
