Re-arranging DHL Redelivery Overseas Text Charges

Careful when responding even to bona-fide texts from companies. I replied to a DHL text to change delivery day for a package I was expecting and got stung by 25p for a text to a Jersey code.
That's twice in a month, I also got rooked for 25p to opt out of marketing from buymobilephones.net. That turned out to be an Isle of Man number.
I've always been careful of the more dodgy companies in the past but that's the first time I've been caught out by supposedly legit ones.

Looking at the rates it seems to be 10-15p max. Thats just the operator levy with DHL making no money on the deal.
I guess you texted a shortcode?0 -
Nope, cost me 25p on three (pay monthly) to +447797880801. Even if other networks charge less, I'm not aware of any that count Channel Islands/IoM in inclusive bundles so still an unexpected charge for many.0

I don't see it as unfair theyve offered a convenient service that can be done for free on their site. I understand DPD offer the same but they use a UK number. Levy for a service tbh0

It's not unfair, however they should warn customers of the charge. If you took a straw poll in the street, I suspect most people wouldn't identify that as being anything other than a standard UK number. Had I been aware of the charge, I would indeed have done it for free through their website.
The buymobilephones charge I do object to - it shouldn't cost me money to opt out of being spammed, and again their should have been a warning.0
