How long after accepting an offer should the sale take?

Just a quick question as I can't find a search answer to my question
. Basically after a year on the market in a small village north of the lakes, we accepted 2 offers, both withdrew . We then accepted a third offer and they appointed solicitors as did we. We accepted on 2nd may, appointed a solicitor on the 5th, got all paperwork back to the solicitor by the 13th ( we were away during the week we accepted).
We haven't heard anything about surveys or searches and I know i am probably worrying needlessly, as in reality I guess it hasn't been more than 2 weeks they could have had our details for the buyer.
Still, with 2 offers fallen through I am really nervous- and wondering when we should pack actually! Solicitor is ok but has been on holiday, so am more nervous from not hearing anything too.
I should say we are flexible and will move to rented, and are the top of a 4 person chain with a fab at the bottom.
Thanks for any words of comfort or advice in advance! :)

Hi OP, had to rewrite my post :)

If it's any consolation, we had our offer accepted end of April, valuation and survey completed and received mortgage offer in the post. Vendors SOL has just responded to my SOL queries (haven't got a clue what they were). We're in a chain of 3 and we're not looking to exchange for another 2-4 weeks, crossing my fingers it's the former.

So I won't worry too much, they probably didn't have a Surveyor available and the Bank holiday won't have helped either. I'd imagine you would hear from them this week if no, don't hesitant to call and politely enquire :D hope it goes smoothly and it's a quick exchange.

Thank You! That does help actually- we haven't sold before so am having a tendency to worry about everything! When we bought years ago the house was empty with no chain and it only took 4 weeks so I think that probably made my expectations unrealistic.
This house selling thing is more stressful than I realised...
Just a quick question then- have you packed yet?!

Hi, my Daughter had offer accepted on a house on 14th February and Exchanged on 6th May, this was delayed while they were on holiday, but they completed on Friday 22nd May, this had also been delayed by one week due to others on holiday. So over all would have been around 12 weeks.

IME, I consider 12 weeks about an average. I've bought 3 times; the first two took 11 weeks, the last one 13 weeks - although these were all short chains, so it could take much longer with more complex one. I've not known a sale involving a mortgage to take less than about 6 weeks in England.

The first couple of weeks after terms of sale have been agreed always feel like nothing is happening, so try not to worry too much. Check with your solicitor that they have sent the draft contract package to your buyer's solicitor, as nothing much will happen without this taking place. Perhaps speak to you EA to find out whether your buyers have submitted a mortgage application (assuming they need a mortgage) and find out whether they intend to have a survey in addition to the valuation.

A house sale from offer acceptance to exchange can take anything from 12 days to 12 months, and each one is always a little different. I agree with cloo, 12 weeks is pretty typical.

It will take in days what the length of a piece of string is in millimeters.

Thanks to all- feeling better about this today as had a voicemail from my solicitor saying she is waiting to hear back about any enquiries from the draft contract that went out last week. I Am now just keeping my fingers crossed that this buyer sticks with us and doesn't pull out like the others!:)

In Scotland I would say 6-8 weeks from offer accepted to moving in.
