in Credit cards
Hi guys, so I applied for a MBNA card last night, I didn't get an instant decision and it said they would get back to me in 7-10 working days.
However this morning I received an email from them saying 'Great news! Your application for a MBNA Virgin Atlantic Credit Card Account is now complete and your credit limit will be £X,XXX'
However I try to call last night and this morning and both times got the automated service with it being a bank holiday saying I'd been unsuccessful on this occasion. If I have been declined why would they send me a email this morning telling me i'd been accepted?
Any ideas? Thanks.

Wait and see?
They'll inform you via email or post either way.0 -
Some credit applications can't be processed at certain times because credit reference agencies won't be available, For example if you apply for a nationwide credit card after midnight it asks you to apply later after 6am.
I assume your application was saved on their databases, then later the next day when the cra data was available, it was processed and accepted. So i guess your application was successful, but no harm in calling them to make sure.0 -

I took the compulsory Eligibility Check (soft search) on the MBNA site for the 6.6% APR low rate Mastercard but was turned down but offered an alternative at 11.9% BT/spend/advance and then went to full credit search and was instantly approved. Low limit to start of £800.00 though. I don't even see that card on their web site and I suspect it's the same card with a higher APR and lower limit. Card and PIN within 7 - 10 days. Something of a feather in my cap - haven't had a prime CC since 2007 when I crashed along with several Banks.
Edit: Yes, the same low rate card at a higher interest rate. Just received an email from MBNA which looks to have been delayed: "Great news! Your application for an MBNA Low Rate Credit Card has been approved ..."0
