Well from what you've written it seems he is being completely unreasonable. He wouldn't have the opportunity to agree to the sale if you found somewhere cheaper to rent, stopped paying the mortgage, and the bank repossessed. Not only that, but it would ruin his credit file. So, you should ask him which he'd prefer.
OP: as long as the house is worth more than the mortgage debt, masonic's comment is worth absorbing.
Did you and your ex at any stage draw up an agreement on how the ownership was divided, and how the mortgage interest payments were to be divided?Free the dunston one next time too.0 -
I'd be interested in knowing how I have time on my side/mortgage is not an immediate problem if you could advise.
No, no agreement with ex regarding ownership or mortgage payments, just assumed we would stay together. Have an appointment with a solicitor next Tuesday, though can't see anything changing. I have spoken to him again today to no avail. I informed him he needed to take over insurance policies that cover his life, as I would no longer be paying them. Thus saving an extra £62 per month that I can throw at the mortgage.
I would consider taking a lodger when children have left home.
Many thanks for all the help.0
