Thanks eversomuch for your replies - I guessed the general consensus would be for the Panasonic, but felt I should explore the alternatives.
Hopefully it'll last as long as my Kenwood has! Poor old thing must have done thousands of loaves in its time.
Thanks again!

From reading the reviews written by other old stylers the panasonic is the favourite, but I couldn't justify spending four times as much on a machine that might have been relegated to the back of a cupboard if I didn't like it(the fastbake is my first breadmaker and I wasn't sure whether or not I'd use it regularly or not).
Now that I know I enjoy breadmaking I may go for a panasonic next time, but in the meantime I'm more than pleased with my MR.

This is where I am too. The MR cost me less than £30 and was a trial really as it's my first BM. I love it and use it almost every day, making loaves, bread rolls, pizza dough, and have a huge list of things I want to try with it but haven't got round to it yet! Maybe for my next BM in a few years time I might upgrade to the panasonic, but the MR is fantastic too and excellent value for money.0
