Well, the time has come for my old faithful Kenwood BM200 to be pensioned off. He's seen me through the last six years, baking bread almost daily, and he's now got an intermittent fault which causes the bread to fail.

Rather than start patching him up, I've decided to take the plunge and buy a new machine. Now, my first thought was to buy the same again...but then I thought to myself 'where's your sense of adventure?'.

So, I'd like to ask those of you who have breadmakers which one you would recommend. I've got my eye on the new Panasonic SD255, but wouldn't want to take the plunge without considering all other options.

I've had a good look through all the other bread machine threads, but really just wanted some quick replies so that I can make the decision soon (I've got some Amazon vouchers burning a hole in my pocket!).

We've go the Morphy Richards Fastbake (don't use that option) and its OK. Can't say its greatl we hit + miss with BM bread. Our sourdough from our starter is more reliable, but I know its us most likely with BM bread.

I'm with odds-n-sods - my Morphy Richards Fastbake is ok but no more than that. My friend has a Panasonic and her bread comes out much, much nicer than mine from the same recipe (and I'm a good cook!!!!). I generally use mine for dough then bake it in the oven separately, which kind of defeats the object! My friend is so pleased with her Panasonic (and she's very thrifty).

Another thumbs up for the panasonic. Ours gets used at least half a dozen times a week and the bread is wonderful.

Hi, I had the morphy richards bread maker and now I have the Panasonic 255, and I must say I have found the Panasonic to be brilliant, would definitely recommend it you could say I was almost in love with the thing. Also a couple of weeks ago my OH friend gave him a Panasonic sd253:D because his wife didn't use it:eek: and so I use this one as well, and this is also very good . They are almost identical apart from the shape, the 255 being more compact, I am not sure if the 255 has more programmes,but the bread is lovely in both.

I have a Panasonic SD253 and love it. The Morphy Richards has quite a following around here, and for the price is considered a better buy.

Just got the Panasonic 253 on wednesday after much umming and ahhing and ahhing and umming due to the price. It was £85 in Currys, got it for £75 after haggling. What can I say, it's fantastic x 1000 with a cherry on the top.

Currently awaiting todays fresh loaf, house smells lovely, very easy to use and even better, very easy to clean.

I am woman of many gadgets, may of which are in the back of the cupboard with bits scattered everywhere, you name it, I probably bought it and then couldn't get the hang of it of too labour intensive (meaning I had to actually do something) for me.

But the Panasonic is the canine's doberry's if you get my drift.

Wish I'd have got one months ago. XXX

I had the Panny 253 for years, and then I bought the Panny 255 when it came out. Both machines are excellent.

The 255 has a couple of additional options, one for Rye bread and one for Spelt bread. It comes with a second paddle, especially for the rye mixes which can be really hard to knead. I love rye bread, and have been very pleased with the way it comes out.

There are lots of people who have the MR Fastbake and rave about it.

But I've stayed a Panny girl.

I know I'm in the minority on this thread but I have the MR fastbake and I love it....never had a duff loaf yet.

From reading the reviews written by other old stylers the panasonic is the favourite, but I couldn't justify spending four times as much on a machine that might have been relegated to the back of a cupboard if I didn't like it(the fastbake is my first breadmaker and I wasn't sure whether or not I'd use it regularly or not).

Now that I know I enjoy breadmaking I may go for a panasonic next time, but in the meantime I'm more than pleased with my MR.
