Yosemite National Park

We are planning a tour of the California this September, and I'm wondering how long it would take to see all the main sites of Yosemite?

We have currently only allowed 2 days for it. Is that too little?

I'm looking to do a bit of hiking around, but not a lot!

You could spend a year and not walk all the trails -One of the trails is 236 miles long.

A couple of days will enable you to see most of the main sites - September is too early for snow(usually). Walk up half dome if you are feeling energetic.

It's my favourite place in America - the scenery is breathtaking.

Don't forget they limit visitors now I believe and you should book ahead.

Definitely book ahead, we have had to stay outside the park (we are going in 3 weeks) and it is more than we would have liked to have spent and we are not in the park.

A word of caution, there are several websites set up to look like national park sites, (similar names and look) they are in fact reservation companies who charge 10% of the booking as a fee for something you could have done yourself. We got stung for $45 and didn't know till the credit card bill came through. Investigating on the web this is a common scam, one complainant booked all the accomodation for their holiday through one company and was chareged $1250.

the correct online res site is here

We had 2 days in the park a couple of years ago,it was just right for us.

we stayed in the yosemite lodge inside the park and could see and hear the yosemite falls from our room, that was fantastic. I booked the lodge a year and a day( the earliest you can book) ahead by ringing them directly from the uk and payed around $100 per night it was worth every penny. It does get full very quickly though.

Wherever you stay you will love it.

Just noticed you are going this sep, poss to late to get anywhere inside the park

I don't think that is an official website personally I would go through the National Parks website - http://www.nps.gov/yose/

    Hi,

If you're going to lots of National Parks during your trip look into membership deals.

We spent 3 weeks touring around Northern Arizona & Southern Utah 2 years ago, we visited and hiked in 'lots' of National Parks. We spotted a sign when we entered the first one about Annual Membership, and signed up for a membership for the two of us. We think it about halved the entry costs, and sped up entry as you only have to show the card and a photoid to enter each park.

There should be info on the National Park Service website a previous person posted.

P.S. It doesn't cover the local State Parks, some of which are just as good as the National Parks but not as publicised, you'd probably need to contact local tourist information for details.

If you go to to the 'plan your visit' page on the site you mention it directs you to the booking service I quoted.
