Doesn't work if it was on with another agent, does it?

Also, I see properties that I know have had a sale fall through, come back on Rightmove (same agent), and PB says they are 'new entry'

Zoopla is your friend, so long as the property was listed online it should have a copy of each listing along with when it was first advertised.

I will also recommend that you phone the EA that it was originally listed with before making your offer. They may well dish some dirt on why the sale fell through. I did this with a property that was re-listed with a different seller, sellers new EA advised us that original sale fell through because of the buyers. The EA, property was originally listed with, advised that the seller accepted offer and couldn't find a house she liked. This eventually resulted in buyers' MO expiring and they decided not to persue. Because of this info we weren't willing to make an offer and the property then sold and same issue occurred. Seller is looking for a house in a specific area (near family).
