Concentrate on the house. Don't place importance on second hand white goods because they're not important - when you placed your offer the owners didn't want them but now they do. Things have obviously changed for them just as they have for you.

If you don't want the property any more then pull out, but do it because the property doesn't suit your changed circumstances, not because you're cross over a washing machine.

You didn't have to sign a new tenancy, you can hardly hold them responsible for that.

So, either you still want the property or you don't?

Then, are you now paying current market price for it?

No misunderstanding they clearly said in the beginning that the white goods were staying. Now that the property they're buying comes empty they want to take them. That's a bit off.

Also the EA called me on Friday that they now want a quick completion as the people on the top of the chain are thinking of raising their price. Works both ways doesn't it?

Tbh while it is a low act they haven't exactly been straight and you do hold a lot of the cards as they need to complete quickly. It depends, you could threaten to withdraw unless they include the white goods and they will probably relent but if they call your bluff you would lose legal fees/survey fee (if you had one) and the property increase alone in the six months would probably cost you way more, your annoyed but is it worth it for a few hundred quid worth of white goods.

You're talking about completion, but have you exchanged yet? I pressume not, because if you had then renegotiating wouldn't be an option.

Do whatever you think is best for you. Don't let the house get away for the sake of a few hundred just because you are annoyed. But don't buy a house you don't want either.

I found a house that I liked in a well sought area in London

If you've verbally (I'm assuming you've not exchanged?) secured a house in a competitive area, think carefully about whether you're happy to lose it. Can you afford similar houses in the current market in that area? Is there a good choice of such properties available right now?

As others have said, do you really want the house or not? That is the end goal, the rest is trivial and will be of no consequence, whereas the house itself will have a huge impact on your future.

    Good luck
