Hi, finally sorting my garage out and I want to fit some kind of shelving system for boxes and all other bits and bobs. I want something that wont corode in case of damp and that is strong and cheap - looks do not matter.
The cheapest i have seen so far is this from IKEA. It is £6 per unit and 10 will easily do the trick. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40103727
So for £60 im sorted. Easy as no need to fix to walls but I can if i need to.
Only problem is that it is only 1.4m tall, so all the space above is wasted.
Does anyone have any suggestions - I could Drill holes into the wall and but brackets and then buy shelves to install - but v expensive - especially metal shevles .
Help.... ....

Just shelved my own garage. Built a framework of 3 X 2 inch Scant and boarded with 18mm chipboard. strong enough to support a tank. Scant £2.40 for 2.4m, or B&Q have lighter timber on offer at £1.70 for 2.4m if you are not carrying too much weight.0

I used Ikea's modular Gorm range. Softwood with rubber feet to protect against damp. Easy to put together and reasonably easy to make it fit in awkward corners.0

Try the local B & Q store
Find the ones you bolt together and bolt 2 units one on top of the other for height + bolt them together.
The Ikea ones look too flimsy for weight, thinj about what you will store on them.
Money saving is now a way of life:cool:0 -
We had kitchen cupboards fitted in our garage, obviously they moved them there when the kitchen was refitted. We freecycled them when we took them out. I often see them on there, so that might be worth a look? Cupboards are quite useful for storing things that kids shouldn't be eating, drinking or playing with.
Otherwise if you want shelves then what about those ones that have uprights you screw to the wall & brackets you can move up & down? They're very versatile & you can get the brackets in differant depths.0
