HP 5524 printer doesn't print the top of the page

I am pulling my hair out with this damned printer !!
I try to print out a page on photographic paper and it ALWAYS misses the border at the top of the page and chops off the top of the image...however if I print on normal printer paper it prints fine !!
I have tried re-setting it and doing a head alignment test and lots of other tips I have read on the internet.....and nothing works.
I have also contacted HP support...but not had an answer.
Please help.

Page margins? Are you trying to print edge/edge? Some printer cannot do that as they need space for the rollers to grip the sheet.

Sounds like a paper feed problem as photo paper is thicker than ordinary printer paper. Try giving it a push as it starts to draw through the rollers. Might be worth trying to clean the rollers too.

I don't print to the edge of the paper...but it still cuts the top off !

What programme are you using to print? Could it be that you have set it to "Crop & Rotate" or similar. I had this issue with a friend's HP because she was using the default print photo button that came with the printer. I had to get her to use the Windows print manager (she was still on XP) and that proved quite a learning curve for a silver surfer so now, whenever she needs photos printing I go and do it for her.

It might be the layout of the page margins in the Image Program is different than the printer's software.

Some printers need a border of around 0.25cm outside the image size to operate correctly (unless it was sold as a printer that can print edge to edge) . Try shrinking the image by 1cm and make sure it's centred on the page rather than the top of the page. then run a draft print and increase the size in 0.25cm steps till you get it as large as possible without cutting it off..

See if that makes a difference.

Also check to see if it's set to "fit to page" or not that might help
